I don't think I could be more obsessed with this bag if I tried. I've been a huge fan of Fendi for quite a few years now, but I haven't been very impressed with their recent designs. I saw a picture of this online and literally gasped out loud. (Sometimes good purses and shoes can have that effect on me, but it's very rare). Fendi is known for its double F pattern that was designed by Karl Lagerfeld in the 1960's, but when this Pequin stripe was introduced in the 1980's it became just as popular and recognizable. The pattern could be found on bags, furniture, luggage, and even Fendi curtains! My mom actually had some Fendi sheets she bought on sale at Neiman Marcus which I cut up a few years ago to make a dress. Unfortunately, she only had scraps left because she had made scrubs out of the fabric. (This is still a bitter subject). Well, 30 years later, Fendi has brought the Pequin stripe back for Spring 2011 with some modern accents.
This tote comes with purple or blue trim and sides, leather handles, and a sturdy nylon lining. There are two different sizes, 13.5" x 15.5" x 7.25" would be perfect for every day toting, and 40" x 35" x 19" for the beach or traveling. It's only July, but this is already on my Christmas list!
If you're interested, Neiman Marcus has the smaller tote in salmon and brown for $665, Barney's has the smaller tote in purple and blue for $765 (not really sure why it's $100 more), and Saks has the larger tote in blue for $665.
